WEAR | Mix and Match

I shared a post last week on mixing patterns and prints with our scarves.  I know that's it one thing to do that for styled photos, but doing it in real life is a little different.  One of my favorite print combos is stripes and floral.  I think the secret to making it work is not trying too hard.  Basic tee, comfy skirt, simple accessories.

I really wanted to take these photos outdoors, but we were having some crazy wind!  I know some of you are dealing with crazy weather of your own, so I'm certainly not complaining about 80 degrees and windy!  It wasn't worth risking my camera for though, so my lovely front door it is!  I'm sure it would have made for some fun outtakes!

These earrings are from One Little Belt and I LOVE them!  So lightweight, so simple.  They will absolutely be my new go to pair!  I think I've worn them everyday this week!  Supporting other handmade and mom owned business is close to my heart and I was glad I could do just that with this purchase!

WEAR | Pattern Play

I added a few new scarves to the shop over the weekend and decided to have a little fun styling them.

I love the mixed prints.  I think it's fun and a little unexpected.  Exactly what an outfit should be, right?  How do you feel about the pattern mixing trend?

Still not sure about it!  Our Doubletake scarves take the guesswork out of the pattern play for you!

Don't forget, everything in the shop is 20% this week with coupon code "SPRINGBREAK"!  So go snag a scarf and play with prints.  Be sure to use #daisyfayedesigns on Instagram!  We'd love to see how you style your scarf!

SHOP | Spring Break

{Print via}
If you visit the shop this week, you may notice a few things missing.  I've decide to take all made to order merchandise out of the shop for the next week or so.  I just need to take a little time to get caught up on orders, work on some exciting new products that I've been pushing to the back burner for a while (like these gorgeous fabrics), and take care of some boring, business related stuff.

I'm hoping to add everything back in within a week or 2, so it won't be a long break.  And when it all comes back, production time should be A LOT faster than it's been lately!  I'm so thankful for all the business that has come my way this month!  I just need a minute to catch my breath and make sure that I'm able to provide the best customer service and quality products to you all!  So that's the bad news.  The good news is that everything in the shop is ready to ship and 20% off with coupon code "SPRINGBREAK"!

LIFE | Happy spring! {and a flash sale!}

The weather this year has been crazy, right???  This is our first  year in Tucson so we're still figuring out the weather here.  I think we've had handful of days with highs in the 50s, but that's the coldest that it's been!  And I'm pretty sure those days were actually in fall, not the winter!  I've heard that it's been unseasonably warm here, while it seems like most of the rest of the country has been struck by Elsa's curse!  (You know you've already watched Frozen more times than you'd care to admit this week.}  We spent yesterday morning enjoying an empty U of A campus for our play date.  It was a morning filled with sunshine, sticks, and singing!

I know it may not feel like it everywhere, but spring is officially here!  Let's celebrate with a surprise flash sale!

WEAR | Mellow Yellow

Tuesdays have been my favorite day lately.  Tuesday mornings we head over to our favorite toy store, Mildred and Dildred, for their story and song time.  It's only about 20 minutes long, which is perfect for Gabe.  And they hold it in the courtyard at the mall.  The weather here has been gorgeous, so sitting outside is always preferred to sitting inside.  Today we met a few boys from our playgroup and they had a blast.

I've always been a skirts and dresses girl, but with a 2 year to sit with at storytime or play with during his gym class, I've had to look for other options.  These chinos are a great alternative to the everyday jean uniform, are comfy enough for lots of playing on the floor, and the bold color still lets me feel like myself.

I opted to keep it simple today with my favorite basic white tee and colorful flats.  I can't wait to try out some fun color combos with these pants though!

And of course, my favorite "G" necklace.  I love this one for layering and on it's own.

Of course, the best part of our Tuesday morning is what comes after storytime...  gelato!

SHOP | Military inspired. Baby desired.

If you've been around a while, you've heard this story.  But if you're new here, here's a little DFD history for you.  About 3 1/2 years ago I had several friends with buns in the oven.  Being married to a Marine helicopter pilot I was always on the lookout for all things helicopter when it came time to welcome a new baby.  Feeling frustrated with the generic helicopters I was finding, I decided I could design my own.  So with a few pictures of the Huey and Cobra and a paper and pencil, I put my art background to work and designed my first helicopter appliqué!

Sweet Baby J in one of the first ever  Cobras!

I was thrilled to have a special, handmade gift for my friends.  A few requests for orders later, I realized I was on to something and Daisy Faye Designs was born!  My business has grown from simply emailing me your request to a successful Etsy shop and a "fleet" full of helicopters and aircraft!  I love that little pilots all over the world can be seen wearing my designs!

I recently updated the Etsy shop to include even more designs and hopefully make things a bit easier to find and order!

Each airframe now has it's own listing.  All designs are available on bodysuits and tees.  Just use the dropdown menu in the listing to select your size and the price will adjust automatically.  Don't forget the fun part, choosing your own fabric!  Just let me know what you'd like in the "notes to seller".  And if you're looking for an aircraft that you don't see, just ask!  Chances are that I've already made one and just haven't had a chance to make the listing yet (yes, there are more coming!) or I can make it for you!

And yes, we do offer bulk orders to give as squadron or unit gifts!  Send me an email at orders@daisyfayedesigns.com for details on pricing and order minimums.  I love working with CO spouses and family readiness officers to create something special for your squadron or unit!

I love that DFD has expanded and grown beyond just our military designs, but this is always where my heart will be.  There is a lot of love and attention that goes into creating each design that I hope you can see in the final product.

Check out the new listings and let me know what you think???  What other aircraft would you like to see???

All helicopter appliques are designed exclusively for Daisy Faye Designs and are ©Daisy Faye Designs. Official Hobbyist of the USMC; License #21302.

GIVEAWAY | Jamberry Nails

If you follow me on Instagram, you know that I've been trying to find a solution for a long lasting manicure (without having to go to the salon)!  A few weeks ago Mary with Jamberry Nails contacted me to see if I would be interested in trying out a sample.  Ummm... YES!  I had never tried Jamberry before and was super excited!  My sample was easy to apply and so far has been on for a week and still looks great!  (I'm also wearing Essies' Ladylike).

Day 1: My Jamberry sample lasted a lot longer than my regular manicure did!

Day 5: Still going strong!  Everything else was starting to chip!

They just released new patterns and there are some super fun ones!

Mary has also been sweet enough to offer one of my followers their very own set to try out!  And in the Pantone Color or the Year, Radiant Orchid!  I'm even throwing in a zippered pouch in one of our new spring/summer collection fabrics to help you keep everything organized!  You'll also receive a Jamberry application kit to help get you started!

WEAR | Radiant Orchid

When Radiant Orchid was announced as the Pantone Color of the Year, I was thrilled.  I have always been a fan of all purples and I happened to already own Radiant Orchid pants!  I kind of have a thing for colored pants.  However, pairing colored pants with a top that doesn't make me look like I'm 5 isn't always easy.  Earlier this week I came across this outfit and realized that I could pretty much copy it exactly!  Thanks, Pinterest!

One trend that I've been loving is big, sparkly necklaces.  Mostly because I already have this one and it's my grandmothers!  We have a picture of her wearing it when she was younger than me.  I love that I can get away with wearing this whenever I want right now and it's so on trend.

((Do you need a little Radiant Orchid in your life???  Maybe in a little more subtle way than my pants.  ;)  Look HERE!))
