Friday Favorite | Apple Orchard Panini

{Every Friday I share something that I've been loving that week.  Stop by to see what it is and share your favorites, too!}

After our trip to the apple orchard, I was left with a bunch of apples and on the hunt for something to do with them.  Fortunately, one of my favorite food bloggers shared a yummy apple recipe last week that I just can't get enough of!

Y'all, just take my word for it.  You need this sandwich in your life. And if you're like me, you need this sandwich in your life three five times this week.

I think I need a panini press.

What's been your favorite this week???  Share it with me!  You never know, it might be my favorite next week!

Life | I pick you!

While we celebrated Gabe's birthday with trains, we spent his actual birthday at the apple orchard.  I had heard good things about Apple Annie's so we decided to make the drive out there for some good, old fashioned fall fun.  Nevermind that it was 90 degrees.

Since it was a weekday, we pretty much had the orchard to ourselves, which was nice.  Gabe's favorite part by far was throwing the bad apples.  Anytime we kicked or tossed a rotten apple, he would giggle like he's never giggled before.  We quickly learned not to hand him any good apples since he would throw them in a matter of seconds!

After we had as many apples as we thought we could eat, we headed back to the little shop for some homemade apple pie and ice cream.  Gabe had a blast running around outside and playing in the dirt.

Greg and I both agree that we've never heard him laugh like he laughed at those apples, so we call that a 2nd birthday success!  You're the apple of our eye, sweet boy!  Happy birthday!

Life | Choo-choo! Look who's 2!

We spent the past weekend celebrating Gabe's 2nd birthday!  It's hard to believe that this tiny baby is now a big toddler!

Since we're new to Tucson and well, don't really have any friends yet, we opted not to have a party and just have a small family celebration over the weekend.  Gabe has recently expressed a strong interest in trains, so his big gift this year was a new train table.  We were so fortunate to have our family contribute with tracks and sets and trains and now Gabe has a pretty awesome train table!  And he loves it!

The cute train cake is from Village Bakehouse in Tucson.  I may be crafty, but a baker I am not!  I decided to leave this one to the professionals!

Of course, a birthday in the DFD household wouldn't be complete without a special birthday shirt, with what?  Trains, of course!

A few years ago I had a request for a train shirt.  So I designed a train and I've been selling it for a few years now.  It's always been especially popular with the 2-3 year old crowd, which I understand now.  Confession: I've always hated that design!  It's totally my fault since I designed it, but I hated all the small parts and how I had to change thread several times to complete it.  I always dreaded making them!  So I FINALLY had a good reason to redesign my train, and I love this one!  I think the simple silhouette is more in line with my design aesthetic and I enjoy making this one!  I hope you love it as much as I do!  It's in the shop now and ready to order.  I chose these fabrics as the "default" fabrics and love the little red caboose, but if you'd like something else, just let me know!  Unfortunately, this design is too long for me to fit on a bodysuit, but it's adorable on our tees!

Shop | Gobble, Gobble!

It's that time of year again, TURKEY TIME!  When I first started DFD, I had a friend request turkey shirts for her girls.  She sent me a few she liked, I designed my own version, and it has quickly become my most popular applique design!

I look forward to coming up with new fabric combinations every year and I have to say, I love this years design!  Inspired by fall colors and the re-release of Amy Butler's "Belle" collection, this is definitely the most fall like version of my turkey!  Of course, any design I love wouldn't be complete without a little aqua blue!  Oh, and the skirt!

Gorgeous Amy Butler fabric, I may need one for myself!  (Good news, more designs that will coordinate with this skirt are on the way!).  Also new this year, BROWN shirts!  I get so many requests for colored shirts and I am thrilled to be able to offer the turkey shirts in brown this year!

So, ordering details.  Turkeys are only available for PRE-ORDER.  So if you don't place a pre-order, you most likely won't be able to get a turkey.  I sell so many turkeys that I will need to place a large supply order and plan my workload for the month of October.  This year I am only accepting orders through the Etsy shop.  I've found that using Etsy makes it so much easier for me to say organized and saves me so much time!

All turkeys will ship no later than November 1st and I will not able to rush any orders.  I will be shipping any FPO/APO orders a little earlier, so please make sure to get those orders in so I can plan accordingly.

So what do you think of this years turkey?  Don't miss out on this adorable design!  Visit the Etsy shop today to place your pre-order!
